Risk Management

NYPC’s risk management processes are designed to provide the futures industry with a stable and reliable environment for the clearance and settlement of U.S. fixed income derivatives. Risk management is the means by which NYPC maintains sufficient liquidity and assets to protect itself, and its members, from the risks inherent in the settlement process, including the possibility of a member default.

The Risk Committee of the NYPC Board of Directors and NYPC’s Chief Risk Officer are responsible for overseeing and enforcing NYPC’s risk management program, including monitoring of Clearing Members’ continued compliance with the financial and other qualifications for membership, setting and monitoring of margin and other risk-related requirements and on-going evaluation of the sufficiency of the NYPC guaranty fund.
